Testroute films the roads around every test centre in England.
Testroute is a team of driving instructors that films driving test routes in 4K. Learners deserve more to prepare with than a map. So in every city we work with local instructors to find the roundabouts and junctions that cost people their test, then film the roads they see come up again and again around that test centre.
Learners get little to prepare with
Most learners get a few hours a week with an instructor, and that is often the whole of it. The theory test has apps, books and hazard clips; the practical test has nothing.
We think there should be more. Not a replacement for lessons, but something to prepare with in the hours around them: real roads and real situations, filmed the way you will meet them.

How a route gets on this site
Every route was driven by one of us. Where we drive is decided by the instructors and learners who send us the roads they see.
Instructors around each test centre send us the routes they take pupils on, and learners send in the ones they were taken on. Some draw them on a map, some just describe them.
One route is an anecdote. Dozens that cross the same roundabout is a pattern, and our parser maps every one of them. We film patterns, not a guess at the route you will be given.
One of us drives it in normal traffic and films it from the driver's seat, with no cuts and no stock footage, so each junction arrives at the speed it will on your test.
The team behind every route
The team is bigger than the three of us. Behind every route is a network of driving instructors across England.
-
Toby
Finds the driving instructors and driving schools around each test centre and keeps in touch with them, so the routes people send us keep coming in.
-
Mickey
Works that same network, and reads the tracks that come back from it. Decides which junctions keep catching learners out, and which routes are worth a day of filming.
-
Walter
Drives to the test centres with the camera. Films the roads in normal traffic, in one continuous take, so the situations arrive at the speed they will on the day.
We are always looking for instructors who know their area, and for people who want to join the team.
