What happens to it

What we do with a route once it arrives

Every route that comes in is compared with the ones we have already filmed at that centre. When a pattern shows up in what people send, or a route turns up that we have never seen, we go back out and update it.

A person reads it, not a filter

Your route joins a queue that one of us opens by hand. It is not on the site, nobody else can see it, and your name is on it only if you asked for that.

Better not to. The DVSA does not allow a test to be recorded from inside the car, and although a GPS trace is neither video nor audio, there is no way to see that from the passenger seat. If your examiner notices something running you get a moment to switch it off, and if that does not work the test is over and the fee is gone. On top of which, that is the one drive where you want nothing else on your mind. Drive it again afterwards.

Send it anyway. We are not checking your memory, we are looking for patterns across everything people send. A route that is roughly right still tells us which roads keep coming up, and one that is wrong stands out immediately against the others.

Only if you leave an address and tick one of the boxes, and then a person replies rather than an autoresponder. Without that we simply read it and get on with it, so no news is normal and does not mean it was ignored.

Yes, and arguably more use than the first one. One route is somebody's memory of a drive. The same route from four people is a pattern, and a pattern is what makes us go and film it.

No. If you teach around a centre and want an arrangement rather than a one-off, that is what Work with us is for, and there is a box on the form to say so.

Not from the site, but write to us and we will remove it. Nothing is published from a form anyway, so a route you regret has not gone anywhere in the meantime.

Not yet. The map shows every centre we have on file, whether we have filmed it or not, so if yours is not on it we do not cover that area at all and there is nothing for a route to attach to. Do tell us which one it is, though. Where we drive next is decided largely by how often a centre gets asked for.

No, we cannot use those. Their maps are licensed and a screenshot of one is not ours to work from. Drawing the same route here takes about two minutes and gives us something we can actually drive.
